Permanent Jewelry FAQs

In a nutshell, permanent jewelry is jewelry that is claspless. When you visit Spark Permanent Jewelry Bar, we cut a customized length of chain, measured out specifically for you, and weld the ends together so that it doesn't come off. You never have to worry about remembering to put your permanent jewelry on or taking it off.

Not at all. We take extra care during this process to ensure that the spark from the welder doesn't come into contact with your skin.

As permanent as you would like it to be. We specifically choose chains that are strong enough to withstand normal wear and tear, but delicate enough that they will break away if caught on something to prevent injury to you. If you find that you need to remove your permanent jewelry for any reason, simply cut it off at the jump ring with a pair of scissors, and we can reattach it for you later.

We also have gold and silver clasps available at the Spark bar for customers who want a custom fit piece that they can take off whenever they wish!

We prefer not to put permanent jewelry on very young children as it is very difficult for them to sit still during the application process. It is also important to remember that kids grow up fast, and their permanent jewelry will not grow with them.

If a weld doesn't hold, bring the chain back and we will reattach the chain at no charge. Replacement charges for chains that are damanged by abnormal wear and tear are determined on a case by case basis.

Wash jewelry gently with a soft bristle brush and mild dish soap. Avoid excessive exposure to lotions, perfumes and chemicals.

We offer a selection of chains in 925 sterling silver, 14K yellow gold-filled, 14K solid yellow gold and 14K rose gold. We also offer a selection of charms in corresponding metals.

A note about gold-filled jewelry: Gold-filled jewelry is distinguished from gold-plated jewelry by the amount of gold present. While gold plated jewelry is a very thin layer of gold over a different metal (sometimes sterling), gold-filled jewelry is essentially a much thicker layer of gold surrounding a core that is made of a different base metal (such as copper or brass).

No problem! Passengers are not required to remove fine jewelry at airport security.

Gold is one of the few metals that doesn't tarnish, and as for sterling silver, constantly wearing it means that the oils from your skin will keep it from oxidizing.
